Mystery Waitress, Robert Scott + More Join GREAT SOUNDS GREAT Festival 2025 Lineup
Eyegum Music Collective are getting all their ducks lined up for the rapidly approaching Great Sounds Great Festival, an explosion of Aotearoa music, poetry and lots more happening across nine Pōneke venues (and ten stages) in the central city on 6th September. They've welcomed on board a number of new acts to the mega-stacked bill, including Mystery Waitress led by songwriter Tessa de Lyon, who released their second album Bright Black Night in mid-2024 via Flying Nun Records.
Speaking of which, Eyegum have revealed the Flying Nun in-stores performances will feature Ōtautahi music titan Robert Scott (whose legendary group The Bats are also playing the fest) alongside rising talents Dropper and Cruelly, while the RadioActive x 13 Garrett St stage will host The Spectre Collective "scoring an unannounced film live," Eveline Breaker, Bad Taste, plus "a secret set from one of our favourite bands." While the Great Sounds Great 2025 timetable is still under lock and key, Eyegum have unveiled more info for Tonic's roving programme of pop-up DJ / electronic sets too, including all-important afterparty details and newly announced artists AMIRA, Asset, UMU, Nam Chucks, DJ Kristen Stewart, and $tacey Lee...
"Trailblazing Pōneke collective Tonic are taking punters on a tour of Te Aro via a roaming venue takeover, with pop-up DJ / electronic sets happening at three locations around the area. They have also kindly curated the entertainment for the unofficial afterparty, meaning their massive programme will run from 3pm to 3am! Early birds can catch AMIRA and Asset at Swimsuit cafe on Dixon St, later UMU (Riki Pirihi and Dan Beban) will be at Dirty Laundry on Garrett St, and Nam Chucks will bring the party to LBQ on Edward St. Finally, DJ Kristen Stewart and $tacey Lee will keep things going at Meow into the wee hours."
