The team of Yolanda Fagan (Na Noise, Echo Ohs), Julien Dyne (The Circling Sun) and James Milne (Lawrence Arabia), Half Hexagon emerged from the mysterious mists of 2022 with a sound informed by kosmische musik, motorik, heavy psych, and dubwise trailblazers of yore — hybridised further via each member's award-winning sensibilities. Initially received locally as a project akin to Stereolab (probably a misleading comparison, as the Tāmaki Makaurau super trio don't mirror the UK groop's love for sonic quotation), Half Hexagon rapidly mutated further into their own kiwi animal and the arrival of their first full length record EP1 + EP2 is cause for elation.

As the title suggests, EP1 + EP2 crams both of Half Hexagon's EP releases onto one limited edition 12" vinyl disc (available HERE), which also includes two tunes currently unavailable on streaming services — recent single 'Best Foot Work' and brand new opener 'The Isness'. Milne's pulsing synthetic grooves and ice cold yet strangely soulful keys lock in with Dyne's dubbed out, maze-like beat work, as a deeply reverberated Fagan grasps intangible truths. While Half Hexagon currently bide their time between on-stage appearances, we can all recognise the excellence of what they've achieved so far on EP1 + EP2, listenable in full on Bandcamp.
