Aidan Fine Announces 'Ed's Sun' Auckland Album Release Show

Chris Cudby / Friday 22nd August, 2025 11:14AM

Born half a world away in Florida, raised in Johannesburg and based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aidan Fine's debut album Ed's Sun expresses a kaleidoscopic polymathic vision, intertwining psych-pop-rock and club-bumping hip-hop, funk and soul to radiant effect. Whittled down to nine carefully crafted, imaginatively arranged tracks from a mega-productive 100 initial demos, it's now time to celebrate. Fine has assembled a full band for a launch party at Double Whammy on 26th September, his first ever headline show! Dive into the songwriter / producer's neo-psychedelic world and wave goodbye to winter with Fine and friends...

"My first ever headline show, and it’s at one of my favourite venues... Tell a friend. Bring a friend. Bring 6 friends. Full band.. full album + a lot more. I’m putting my whole ass into this show. We wanna create an experience. Something different. This is my chance to show you the Ed’s Sun world in the physical, for the first time. I hope to see you there. Only 50 early birds before they go up a lil."

Press release:

Straight off the back of the release of his critically acclaimed debut album, Ed’s Sun, Aidan Fine announces a headline show with his band at Double Whammy in Tāmaki Makaurau on Friday, 26 September.

Florida-born, Johannesburg-raised and now Auckland-based, Aidan Fine channels a nomadic youth into a vivid blend of psychedelia, left-field hip-hop, and guitar-laced alt-pop. As a self-released artist since his teenage years, he has accumulated over 3 million streams, led by singles Sunday Morning, Gold, and his debut EP, Wings. His music has been praised by the likes of Rolling Stone Australia, RNZ and the NZ Herald, and an upcoming BIGSOUND showcase in Brisbane, Australia, marks rising international buzz.

Released in August, Ed’s Sun blends alternative hip-hop, psychedelic, and experimental sounds into a carefully crafted album that finds Aidan Fine unapologetically pushing artistic boundaries. Distilled from over 100 demos, Fine has created a record that is a culmination of a decade of experimentation and self-inquiry, which he describes as “equal parts spiritual, strange, and deeply personal”.
