Listen to IVY's New Single 'Tall Grass'

Chris Cudby / Monday 25th August, 2025 11:00AM

Like an Antipodean Rome of our modern musical era, all roads lead to Going Global Festival sprawling across three stages Whammy and Double Whammy this week, lending credence to the Auckland City of Music hype (despite unhelpful recent work from some arms of local Council). Ōtepoti guitar-slingers IVY are travelling north for the star-packed showcase, and they've just unfurled the second single from their debut album HUSH, which will be out in full on 12th September. Mainly eschewing the early Radiohead-like histrionics of current SRN hit 'Loon', IVY's slow-burning 'Tall Grass' reflects on the southern gothic majesty of the group's iconic hometown, keeping pyrotechnics up their sleeves for the tune's closing moments...

"It’s dark and beautiful all at the same time. The weather is harsh and exposing, which allows you to be creative, but it can have a negative effect. Simply the equilibrium of something beautiful."
