D.C. Maxwell Announces Auckland Headline Show w/ Sulfate, Groopchat
D.C. Maxwell has provoked an outburst of concern from fans on both sides of the ditch, with this week's shock revelation he has been threatened with deportation from his Naarm Melbourne base of operations back to Aotearoa New Zealand. A major upside however is the ever-rising, Best Independent Debut-nominated song crafter has announced his first hometown event in two years, promising no less then "the show of the century" at Tāmaki Makaurau's Double Whammy on 25th October.
Purportedly in hot water due to widespread postering for his latest anthem 'Jesus' Son', as well as for trespassing on a rooftop during the filming of a music video for a brand new single out next Wednesday, this listener prays D.C. Maxwell's current legal hassles resolve swiftly and amicably. Joined by special guests Sulfate (whose new set rips) and Groopchat, each ticket comes with a FREE download code for the new single. Grab early birds while you can and give D.C. Maxwell a warm welcome home this spring...
"Auckland City. I am returning.
Long have I travelled through the desert wastes in the land of Naarm. Now I return to the homeland.
Stronger, more vigorous, and slightly better looking - the new era of DC is here.
Joined by Sulfate and Groopchat in the hallowed halls of Double Whammy. This show is going to be insane."

Press release:
DC Maxwell returns to Auckland for his first hometown show in over two years.
Long has this prodigal son of Tāmaki Makaurau journeyed through the desert wastes of Melbourne, subsisting on nothing but banh mi, Mont Blanc coffees and his raw wits.
But now, due to legal trouble caused by the public nuisance of his Jesus’ Son poster campaign (alleged), and the rooftop property trespassing seen in an upcoming video (alleged), and the subsequent looming threat of a 501 deportation - he is triumphantly returning to the safe legal haven of Aotearoa.
This is the first time a New Zealand audience will hear the new songs of this latest iteration of DC with a full band.
DC Maxwell’s 2023 alt-country album Lone Rider was nominated for best independent debut at the Taite Awards, and his captivating storytelling and energetic live show has won hearts and sold out venues across both sides of the Tasman.
But now the singer has put the horses in their stables, and returned with a gritty alt-rock sound that combines the big strum energy of PJ Harvey with the sex appeal of Robbie Williams.
This WILL be the show of the century.
EVERY ticket purchased will come with a FREE download code for the new DC Maxwell single yet to even be announced!
Supported by local legends SULFATE, led by former Lone Rider producer Peter Ruddell. They will bring their fierce, no-holds barred interrogation of kiwi masculinity to the lineup.
And newcomers and scene shakers Groopchat will kick outdated ideas of rock n roll in the teeth and show the old dogs that the kids in Auckland got something to say.
Do not wait. Do not hesitate. Do not think twice.
See you at the rock show.
