Community Garden: Lila Tirando a Violeta (Hyperdub / N.A.A.F.I) Tāmaki Makaurau Show Announced

Bastions of Tāmaki Makaurau's sonically boundless club community, Community Garden have done it again, hosting Ireland-based Montevideo electronic artist Lila Tirando a Violeta at Whammy Bar this coming October. Venturing to Aotearoa with the mission "to record birds for my new album at the island where Alien Covenant was shot (Milford Sound)," Lila Tirando a Violeta's latest long player Dream of Snakes (launched earlier this year via Unguarded) "merges Lila’s memories of South America with her present-day realities, filtered through a longstanding love of sci-fi and post-punk and a desire to bring dancefloors together."

A production innovator who has released via Hyperdub (in collaboration with Sin Maldita) and Mexico City's N.A.A.F.I imprint / collective amongst others, Lila Tirando a Violeta will be joined at Karangahape Road's late night hub by local champions fern and DJ Kristen Stewart. "Community Garden are thrilled to announce that Montevideo’s Lila Tirando a Violeta is coming to play with us - October 4th at Whammy Bar.

Lila Tirando a Violeta presents a strong back catalogue - releases on labels like Hyperdub, New Motion, Activia Benz, and N.A.A.F.I - with collaborations alongside Loraine James, Amnesia Scanner, and Nick León among others.

Now based in Ireland, Lila is literally following the sound of our manu back south to Aotearoa.

Lila Tirando a Violeta’s latest album ‘Dream of Snakes’, on Berlin’s Unguarded, and her recent ambient EP ‘Obsidian Within’ both showcase her keen sensitivity to environmental elements - summoning up new atmospheres with her tino āmiki sound design. These most recent releases range across pensive, ririki moments to super kinetic, post-punky hard dance works.

Joining Lila Tirando a Violeta’s live show in support are Tāmaki’s own fern and DJ Kristen Stewart."
