Listen to Ocean Alley's New Album 'Love Balloon'
Unless you've been stranded on some kind of desert island or trapped shackled in a dark dungeon for the past decade, you're likely aware Ocean Alley are of the very biggest acts in Australia's sun-baked contemporary music scene. Journeying back to Aotearoa New Zealand this summer to headline Auckland's Spark Arena, the New South Wales collective today thrill fans with the release of their fifth album Love Balloon, laid down in the studio with producer Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Powderfinger, Rage Against The Machine).
The title and artwork alluding to free-floating escapades, Love Balloon swirls together the nostalgic and lysergic into ten tracks of huge grooves and even bigger feels — a kaleidoscopic canvas blending uplifting psych-rock, soul-pop sparkle, and even a rustic touch of country (for example on 'Down The Line'). Hit play on the brand new video for 'Drenched', read keyboardist / vocalist Lach Galbraith's reflections on the themes threading through Love Balloon and boogie with Ocean Alley plus special guests Skegss and Don West this February, presented by Eccles Entertainment, The Edge, and Mai FM....
"The album explores the many layered dimensions of love - not just the cinematic kind where you're falling head over heels, but the full spectrum: joy, hurt, discomfort and disappointment. Let’s call it the river of love - whether it’s with a partner, a friend, or family, you never know when it’ll get deep, go shallow, or suddenly change course. It’s such a force that you have to just surrender to its current."
