The Warratahs 2025 NZ Music Hall of Fame Inductees

Chris Cudby / Friday 10th October, 2025 11:39AM

As revealed on television network news last night, The Warratahs are 2025's NZ Music Hall of Fame inductees, to be officially bestowed upon the Aotearoa country legends at The 2025 APRA Silver Scroll Awards ceremony on Wednesday 29th October. Led by Barry Saunders, who co-founded the group in 1986 with Wayne Mason, and featuring members of such combos as The Fourmyula, Rockinghorse, Timberjack, and The Tigers, The Warratahs have released seven studio albums (plus three greatest hits collection) and are still a vibrant force today, launching their latest record Burning Daylight just a few months ago.

Winners of the Best Country Music Artist Tūī in 1988, 1990, 2000 and 2016, The Warratahs paved the way for a fresh generation of country / folk-loving local artists, indeed Saunders is credited as a key figure in Canterbury's globally famed songwriting community. Bringing the glitz and glamour to Isaac Theatre Royal in Ōtautahi Christchurch, the musical director for this year's APRA Silver Scroll Awards will be Lyttelton luminary Delaney Davidson, who has in fact released two collaborative albums with Saunders (so far). You can learn all about The Warratahs' storied history via reading Kerry Doole's informative profile of the group for AudioCulture HERE.

"The Warratahs have always been about connection—between people, places, and stories. Their music is deeply rooted in Aotearoa, and their legacy is one of authenticity, generosity, and heart. We’re thrilled to honour them in the Hall of Fame." - Anthony Healey, Head of APRA AMCOS Aotearoa
