Aotearoa's songwriting glitterati descended upon Ōtautahi Christchurch's Isaac Theatre Royal last night for the 2025 APRA Silver Scroll Awards | Kaitito Kaiaka. Ōhinehou / Lyttelton's Marlon Williams (Kāi Tahu, Ngāi Tai) and co-writer KOMMI (Kāi Tahu, Te-Āti-Awa) took away the prestigious main prize for 'Aua Atu Rā', from Williams' new album of all te reo waiata Te Whare Tīwekaweka (the title translates as 'The Messy House'), the creation of which was unpacked in director Ursula Grace Williams' highly watchable documentary feature film Marlon Williams: Ngā Ao E Rua – Two Worlds.

Notably, 'Aua Atu Rā' is the second te reo Māori winner of the Silver Scroll in a row, following Anna Coddington's 2024 winning bilingual waiata 'Kātuarehe', and this is the second time Williams has received the main award. He first received it in 2018 for 'Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore', his moving duet with Aldous Harding.

Hosted by Stacey Morrison and Jed Parsons, with musical director Delaney Davidson curating live performances throughout the evening, you can take in the full majesty of the 60th Silver Scroll Awards | Kaitito Kaiaka ceremony via RNZ's video stream below. Here's the official list of winners for 2025...
