Love Square Share New Album 'The Lighthouse' + Playing Spring Release Shows
Entrancing audiences with a horn-parping, wheel-prompted solo at last night's Exploding Rainbow Orchestra extravaganza, Finn Scholes (Carnivorous Plant Society) is one third of the instrumental tri-force that is Love Square, with partners in crime Nick Atkinson (Supergroove, Hopetoun Brown) and Alistair Deverick (also of Carnivorous Plant Society). The Tāmaki Makaurau trio take listeners on a joyful and imaginative multi-dimensional sonic journey with their new album The Lighthouse — roaming from the radiant, gently lapping reflections of the title track, the spacey heavy funk of 'Nick Move', the butt-wiggling red hot grooves of 'Brother John', to the replenishing new agey shimmers of 'Clarinet Palindrome' and beyond, rounded out with RNZ live versions of 'Take Me Away' and 'Sonido Amazonico'.
Love Square will celebrate their new opus and compel bodies to dance this weekend at Te Pahū Sound Lounge, Whammy Bar and Lee Sawmill, following up in the very near future at Auckland Jazz & Blues Club and Frieda Margolis in Grey Lynn, plus at Leigh Sawmill Jazz Festival this summer.
