Shred Fest 2026 New Zealand Tour Announced ft. Obscura

Get ready to throw ya goats like never before, when the touring SHRED FEST 2026 hits Aotearoa New Zealand with asteroid impact this September. German technical death metal titans Obscura are leading the charge, with more special guests to be revealed for Whammy Bar in Tāmaki Makaurau, Valhalla in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and Churchills in Ōtautahi. Helmed by founding guitarist / vocalist Steffen Kummerer with an ever-evolving roster, Obscura's seven studio album oeuvre includes 2009's classic Cosmogenesis (via Relapse) — praised on release as Best Death Metal Album of the year by Loudwire and hailed as "one of the 100 most important death metal albums" by Metal Storm — and their 2025 opus A Sonication, the second chapter of an ongoing trilogy (via Nuclear Blast).

A band so huge they have their own signature amplifier, Obscura previously visited here during the pre-pandemic era, when they headlined Valhalla in 2019. This will be the very first time have toured nationwide in NZ, here are the details...
