Wednesday 'Bleeds' New Zealand Tour Announced
It's Wednesday on a Thursday! North Carolina countrygaze superstars Wednesday — "maybe the most important band in this lane right now" according to The Needle Drop's Anthony Fantano — this morning delight local devotees with news of their imminent return to Aotearoa New Zealand. In the eye of a hurricane of adulation for their new album Bleeds (released last September via Dead Oceans), the US guitar-slinging ensemble founded and led by Karly Hartzman have three NZ headline dates locked in, playing at San Fran in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Loons in Ōhinehou, and the opulent Hollywood Avondale in Tāmaki Makaurau this coming May
Fans should note, while guitarist / backing vocalist MJ Lenderman is a core member of Wednesday (for recordings, etc.), he no longer tours with the group, most likely due to his own solo career taking off like a rocket since the launch of 2024's Manning Fireworks. Either way these major musical events are likely to sell out in a flash, so don't dawdle or you might be crying about it later — brought to you by Banished Music and Strange News Touring...

Press release:
When North Carolina’s noise makers Wednesday first visited Aotearoa off the back of their album RAT SAW GOD, audiences were taken by surprise in the best possible way. A 95bFM review called the band’s Whammy show “a sold out countrygaze extravaganza”, and everyone who came left with big hearts and even bigger smiles.
Now, with the band’s unbelievable sixth album Bleeds out in the world, it’s high time that Banished Music and Strange News had their fun pals from Asheville down for a repeat visit, with three shows across Wellington, Lyttelton, and Auckland happening this May.
