HighSchool (AUS) Announce Auckland Headline Show
Their band moniker giving this listener flashbacks of kicking around my old alma mater Birkenhead College, HighSchool are the Naarm post-punk duo of Luke Scott and Rory Trobbiani. Blending sleek new wavey catchiness with Irwin-esque gothic melancholy and languorous jangle — all imbued with a time-warping distorted glow courtesy of producer Ben Hillier (who has worked with Depeche Mode and Blur) — HighSchool's recently unveiled self-titled debut album has naturally proven to be a hit with fans and reviewers beyond Australia's borders. Stars on the rise, they'll soon be crossing the ditch for one show only in Aotearoa New Zealand, playing at Whammy Bar in Tāmaki Makaurau on 10th May. Here are the details...
