Shortlisted for the 2025 APRA Silver Scroll Award | Kaitito Kaiaka for her sumptuous duet with Estère 'South Coast', Deva Mahal is welcoming the nu era of Future Classic Vol II: Future with a nationwide release tour starting in early April. Daughter of US blues legend Taj Mahal and sister of Zoe Moon and Imon Star, Mahal was born and raised in Kauaʻi, Hawaii. She became enmeshed in Te Whanganui-a-Tara's vibrant early '00s music community following a family shift to Aotearoa, recording with and touring the globe as backing singer for Fat Freddy's Drop (she contributed to their iconic 'Wandering Eye') — as detailed in Martyn Pepperell's in-depth AudioCulture profile of Mahal HERE.
