Spotlight: Ringlets UK/EU Fundraiser Shows - Auckland & Wellington
Invited to be special guest openers for Foo Fighters at their upcoming Tāmaki Makaurau stadium event, and very recently on the bill for the all-star Laneway Festival (co-incidentally also at Western Springs), Ringlets are incontestably an ascendant force in art-damaged post-punk. Their standout latest Flying Nun Records album The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time For Walkies) in the running for the coveted 2026 Taite Music Prize, Ringlets are ready to show the world what they've been missing out on, with a UK and EU tour locked in for later this year, including a spotlight appearance at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. But they need a little help from you to make it all happen.
Ringlets have announced a pair of fundraiser gigs at San Fran in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and The Tuning Fork in Tāmaki Makaurau (latter event all-ages), joined by a top notch assortment of local supports in each town. Help give one of Aotearoa's most preeminent groups to emerge this decade a much-needed boost abroad. Here's the official skinny, courtesy of Junk Mail and 100% Good...
Ringlets are soon heading off. March & April allows them just enough time to pack up an international driving permit, some muesli bars, and a set of guitar strings (can also be used as floss if you don’t mind a little blood) into a polka-dot bindle. May will then see them embark on a five week long tour of Europe & the United Kingdom. They also have a number of bookings later into the year, so they think they’ll stay on.
You can help them out: these two final headline shows – a shameless shake of the tip jar – in Wellington on April 10th, and Auckland on April 11th will be a chance for you to send them off in style. In the bands hometown of Auckland there will also be a garage sale (anything that didn’t fit into the bindle will be flogged off) alongside some actually high-quality merch and small trinkets exclusive to these fundraiser shows (Merch available in both cities).
