CAITLIN Shares New Single 'Guardrails' + Announces EP Release Tour
Starring on Canterbury's biggest stage at Electric Avenue festival late last month, it is all go for ascendant Ōtautahi songwriter Caitlin Bradley aka CAITLIN. She's found a magical match with co-producer Will McGillivray (aka Goodwill) on her new single 'Guardrails' and recent standout 'You’re Only Good To Calm Me Down', both from a forthcoming EP also titled Guardrails. Her new song combines rustic sonic aura with the artist's already assured songcraft, delicately accentuating the subtle squeaks of plucked guitar and percussive clatter, as CAITLIN conjures a hypnotic folk-tinted world of memory and feeling — with strings assistance from her sister Alysha.
Launching her Guardrails EP in full on 11 April, the time is ripe for CAITLIN to embark on a nationwide launch tour celebrating her achievements thus far. Special guest opener for such local icons as Jon Toogood, Jordan Luck and Hollie Smith, CAITLIN will be stepping into a spotlight of her own in Tāmaki Makaurau, Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Ōtautahi and Timaru this May — all nicely in sync with NZ Music Month / Te Marama Puoro o Aotearoa...
"This feels like the most cathartic moment on the EP. It’s about the push and pull of new beginnings and the memories you leave behind after a relationship ends. The ending moves away from the beat into a more ethereal, textural space, created by slicing earlier sonic and melodic ideas into a new context. Guardrails taught me that I can hold both versions of myself at once – feeling free and full of life while carrying a quiet grief for what it cost to get there."
