Premiere: Watch Mainard Larkin's Video For New Single 'Empty Street'
We are very thrilled and privileged this morning to present for you an exclusive first look at 'Empty Street', the new single and video from Mainard Larkin, officially out this Thursday via Lil' Chief Records. Striding confidently into the alt-country arena with last month's debut single (under his own name) 'Rattlesnake Boy', the Tāmaki Makaurau tunesmith formerly known as Randa roams lonesome dusty trails of heartache in 'Empty Street', keeping our spirits high thanks to plucky strings, playful synth sparkles and rollicking snaky rhythms.
Directed by Ali Burns, the video rightly plonks Mainard Larkin's ballad in a homespun karaoke setting, getting slyly meta while encouraging us all to sing along. The first new recruit to the Lil' Chief Records stable in a decade, Larkin's forthcoming album Rattlesnake Boy was co-written and recorded with long-term collaborator Shannon Fowler (Tom Lark), and will be out in full on 22nd May. Keep ears peeled for official launch event details, preorder the record on vinyl LP / digitally HERE, and hit that play button below...
"The song is about dealing with someone who’s broken up with you. Sometimes you have to say: ‘don't be nice to me, just act like I don't exist, because if you still give me attention, then I’m still going to feel like I’m in love with you.’ Maybe in two years you can talk to me … maybe in four years!"
'Empty Street' is officially out on Thursday 26th March via Lil' Chief Records.
