Ringlets Unveil Single & Video 'Hard Evidence'
Currently half a world away tearing it up on stage in the UK, Ringlets quite literally serve up 'Hard Evidence' (apologies all) that they're one of Aotearoa's finest post-punk groups, with their first new tune since last year's Taite Music Prize-nominated Flying Nun Records opus The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time for Walkies). Like a tightened coil of pensive energy threatening to explode, the subtly catchy ‘Hard Evidence' digs in deep via tight-as-a-whip math-rock interplay, with strategically deployed industrial textures elbowing through the elegance — as singer Leith Towers implores 'Please go easy on my gearbox, baby / There's an officer down'.
Recorded over one full day at Roundhead Studios in Tāmaki Makaurau with De Stevens on recording / mixing duties, the accompanying video for ‘Hard Evidence' by directorial wiz Martin Sagadin combines rock video glamour with the hands-on intimacy of the massage table — shifting to ritualesque fireside cavorting like it's the most natural thing to do. Made with support from NZ On Air, experience 'Hard Evidence' below, plus have a squiz at Ringlets' extensive upcoming UK and EU tour schedule for the weeks ahead HERE...
'Hard Evidence' is out now via Flying Nun Records on major streaming platforms.
