Watch Carnivorous Plant Society's Video For New Single 'Busy Garden'

Chris Cudby / Monday 8th June, 2026 1:04PM

Led by Finn Scholes, Aotearoa's Carnivorous Plant Society share a prismatic sonic sunbeam to delight and amaze during the wintery months ahead, given shape as their new single and video 'Busy Garden'. Animated by Scholes in his own inimitable style and made with support from NZ On Air, viewers are invited to explore a fertile landscape of ever-growing alien flora and fauna in the accompanying clip, complimenting the tune's imaginative psych-rock-exotica featuring dreamy vocal chanting by bassist Cass Basil (who also co-produced 'Busy Garden').

As magical on stage as they are on your screen, the unpigeonholeable Aotearoa collective have just announced a big bunch of Arts On Tour New Zealand dates all around the motu this July, to be followed by a headline gig at Tāmaki Makaurau's Whammy Bar on 29th August. 'Busy Garden' is in fact the lead single from a forthcoming new EP entitled I Am Always Listening, here's the official skinny courtesy of Carnivorous Plant Society...

"The EP releases on 26 June — write it in your calendars and perhaps ruminate on what it might be like for a few minutes each day until then.

It’s called I Am Always Listening and it’s a special one for us — partly because it includes the smash-hit Down The Misty Hill which has closed our set for nearly ten years and is a contender for the new Aotearoa national anthem."
