HINA Unveils Single / Video 'The Fountain' + Announces 'Descending Dreams' Album Release Show

The songwriting moniker of Amy Boroevich (Te Rarawa, Ngāti Raukawa), HINA summons gospel-like soulfulness and certainty of vision with her new single 'The Fountain'. Like a mythical artefact bestowing whoever holds it with spiritual fortitude, HINA sings of The Fountain while striding confidently through rural expanses in her self-directed accompanying clip.

Impressively laid down in a single take with full band, 'The Fountain' is the third single revealed from HINA's forthcoming debut album Descending Dreams, featuring amongst its high pedigree contributors producer Navakatoa Tekela-Pule and James Milne (Lawrence Arabia, Split Enz). "It's a vessel for whatever you need it to hold: validation, reassurance, emotional certainty, a relationship, a vice, an inner voice. This song is about searching for meaning, seeking answers that will never come. It's also about internalised blame becoming belief, self-doubt becoming doctrine, and destructively repeating this all like a mantra.

The album now seems to trace how I tried to make sense of things that didn’t need to make sense in the way that I was looking for. “I searched for meaning in glances, in tone, in coincidence, in acts of God. I was trying to be devoted. I was trying to be brave. I was trying to endure. This album is now the record of that love."
