Carnivorous Plant Society Share 'I Am Always Listening' EP
"Wee-hooo!" is about right. An Aotearoa musical collective like none other, Carnivorous Plant Society provide a sunny sonic alternative to our wintery gloom with their radiantly fab new six track I Am Always Listening EP. Venturing into psych-exotica territory adjacent to Texan groovers Khruangbin (or perhaps Mort Garson) with their recent single 'Busy Garden' — as good an opportunity as any to mention bassist Cass Basil is one of our most undersung vocal talents — CPS intrigue, astound, regularly delight and sometimes even startle with the ultra-vivid aural imagery on display.
Led by multi-instrumentalist Finn Scholes, Carnivorous Plant Society have a ginormous amount of Arts On Tour New Zealand dates teed up, concluding with an official EP release party at Tāmaki Makaurau's Whammy Bar on 29th August. Dip your ears into the imaginative musical realm of I Am Always Listening, and go catch CPS at the following dates below. An option could include organising a caravan to follow the group to attend every single gig, Grateful Dead fan-style?
"These songs have been with us for years — some have evolved on stage (Down the Misty Hill has closed our sets for about ten years and remains a leading candidate for New Zealand’s national anthem).
We hope you enjoy spending some time in this strange little world."
