The Beths Announce 'By Request - Test Run' Auckland Show

Incontestably one of the most successful Aotearoa groups of any kind of the past decade, The Beths' ever-flourishing, multi-award-winning songbook has attracted devoted fans from all around our green planet. The one-time Trash Recital guest-starring team supreme of Elizabeth Stokes, Jonathan Pearce, Benjamin Sinclair and Tristan Deck are embarking on a hefty By Request tour of the USA starting in mid-September, thrilling fans with the audience-interactive prospect of "your favourite Beths songs by spontaneous request."

Just before they go, they'll be finding out exactly how this crazy format pans out with a hometown By Request - Test Run gig at Avondale's iconic The Hollywood on 15th September. With four studio albums, one breakout EP and a bona fide Christmas classic up their sleeves, it's time to start practising your best polite yelling voice, and look forward to big hits and deep cuts aplenty from The Beths. New Zealand indie rock heroes The Beths’ latest album Straight Line Was A Lie is a catchy, instant classic. Written in Los Angeles and self-recorded in the band's hometown of Auckland, Straight Line Was A Lie (their first release for ANTI-) follows 2022's critically celebrated LP Expert in A Dying Field. Lead singer and songwriter Liz Stokes delves deeper into her psyche to address everything from roundabout progress to physical and mental health challenges, and fraught family dynamics. Inspired by The Go-Go's, Olivia Rodrigo, filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, and Stephen King's On Writing, amongst others, Stokes' songwriting has achieved startling new depths of insight and vulnerability. Fans will agree that Straight Line Was A Lie is the most sharply observant, truthful, and poetic Beths project to date.
