Ha The Unclear Announce 'Astigmatic!' EP Release Tour + Share Single 'Cumberland St (Astigmatic)'

Aotearoa high-flyers who've spent the past few years reaching new ears in the northern hemisphere, Ha The Unclear reconnect with their southern roots on 'Cumberland St (Astigmatic)', the first tune revealed from the group's just-announced Astigmatic! EP. Masters of their own bouncy, hook-powered take on new wave / jangle-pop, Ha The Unclear's new single is a poetic return to familiar turf, celebrating the thrill of freely zooming through "all the green lights on Cumberland Street."

Launching their Astigmatic! EP in full on 16 October, Ha The Unclear are doing local fans a solid with a full-scale nationwide EP release tour, taking them from their beloved Ōtepoti city streets to Tāmaki Makaurau, Ōtautahi plus Pōneke this November and early December. "The song came from living in Dunedin after being away for a long time – Cumberland Street is this stretch of State Highway 1 going through the city, past the hospital and the university with heaps of traffic lights. The way the phasing is set up, you can get all greens but your timing has to be very particular.

So, it started off being about these small joys. And I wanted to pair this with a very early memory of pointing out stars to my parents on a Dunedin evening, not realising they were just streetlights on the opposite hill – which became the chorus." - Michael Cathro
