The Mary Wallopers (IRL) Announce Debut Aotearoa New Zealand Show
Helmed by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy, The Mary Wallopers are introducing a new generation to the proudly rebellious and raucous spirit of Irish folk music. Hailing from the county town of Dundalk, close to the border with Northern Ireland, the six-piece 'trad punk' collective achieved breakout fame with their 2019 EP A Mouthful of the Mary Wallopers and follow through long players The Mary Wallopers (2022) and Irish Rock N Roll (2023), and they've just launched album number three Paddywhackery.
Musical activists who have participated in anti-fascist protests and pledged support for the liberation of Palestine, The Mary Wallopers have announced their debut performance in Aotearoa New Zealand — promising a high energy show at James Hay Theatre in Ōtautahi Christchurch on 15th May, as part of a wider tour of Australasia. Check out the details below, get ready to pounce on tickets, and look forward to our exclusive chat with Andrew Hendy in the coming weeks...

Press release:
Fresh from the release of their blistering new album Paddywhackery, Irish firebrands The Mary Wallopers today announce their return to Australia and long-awaited New Zealand debut, bringing their raucous live show to Christchurch, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth this May 2027.
Over the past 12 months the Dundalk six-piece haven’t stopped moving, continuing their charge from cult heroes to one of Ireland’s most vital live exports. From lighting up festival main stages (such as Electric Picnic festival here) to packing out venues across Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America, The Mary Wallopers’ ascent shows no sign of slowing.
Led by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy, The Mary Wallopers occupy a lane entirely their own, fusing centuries-old folk traditions with razor-sharp humour, political fire and an infectious disregard for convention. Thanks to relentless touring and word-of-mouth devotion, their gleefully rebellious spirit has propelled the band from grassroots sensations to a must-see global act. This month the band storm through a huge run of dates across Scotland, England and Wales, before closing off the year with arenas in Dublin and Glasgow, ahead of an extensive 21-date North American tour next March.
