Press Release:

MUMFORD & SONS ANNOUNCE VERY SPECIAL GUESTS SARAH BLASKO & NZ’s RODNEY FISHER FOR NEW ZEALAND TOUR

The indomitable Sarah Blasko will be joining Mumford & Sons for their New Zealand tour in November. The shows are very timely, being hot on the heels of the release of her highly-anticipated new album on October 26th. A musician of great integrity and artistic temperament who pushes creative boundaries across the arts, Sarah Blasko’s charismatic live show with a five-piece band is the perfect addition to this stellar line up.

The forthcoming self-produced album was recorded in Sweden at Atlantis studios. Additionally, she also travelled to Bulgaria to enlist the services of the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra to create what is likely to be her most acclaimed and personal album to date.

To complement this international night of musical magic is Rodney Fisher, best known in New Zealand as the singer in well loved band Goodshirt. Living in the UK for the last six years, Rodney has returned home with a debut solo album ‘Songs From The Backyard’.

Released earlier this year to critical acclaim (4/5 Time Out, NZ Herald, 4/5 Groove, Guide), ‘Songs From The Backyard’ has been described as ‘a folk album, dripping with nostalgia…undeniably unique.’ Fans attending the Mumford & Sons shows can expect to hear tracks from Rod’s solo album as well as some classic Goodshirt songs.

Tickets to the Mumford & Sons New Zealand Stopover Tour have been flying out the door with the first Wellington show selling out immediately. A second show was quickly announced, only to sell out soon after. No further Wellington shows will be added and the Auckland and Christchurch shows are now close to reaching capacity. With Australia and New Zealand being among the first countries to get a taste of the new album “Babel” in the live arena, fans should get in quick to avoid disappointment.

Mumford & Sons’ debut album “Sigh No More” sold more than 5 million albums world-wide, reaching #1 on the ARIA charts, triple platinum sales and scoring an ARIA award for Most Popular International Act. Since its release the band have toured across the world, been nominated for Grammy Awards and won the Brit Award for Album of The Year. They have played with Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen and performed for US President Barack Obama.

“Babel” will be released through Gentlemen of The Road/Dew Process on 21 September, 2012.
