Apple Working On Music Streaming Service

Apple Working On Music Streaming Service

Wednesday 31st October, 2012 9:15AM

Apple have apparently been working on a music streaming application that may be rolled out on iPhones, iPads and iPod touches at the beginning of next year.

The service is aimed to combat a gradual decrease in digital music download sales, compete with online radio services such as Pandora, Spotify and Rdio by allowing listenered to purchase tracks as streams and allow them to re-listen to the tracks via automatically-generated playlists.

According to both Stereogum and Spin major label executives have spent time at Apple's headquarters in California recently as Apple tries to find ways to dodge the label restrictions currently in place in the market. Negotiations have apparently centered around advertising revenue share as this will be a primary revenue source of Apple's service.
