Video: Pussy Riot - Like a Red Prison
Members of Russian feminist protest group Pussy Riot have released a video for a new song, 'Like a Red Prison' today. The song references Vladimir Putin's ties to the oil industry and the clip features a group of Pussy Riot members performing / protesting at an industrial location and pouring oil over a photograph of Igor Sechin, who is the head of Russia's state oil firm.
This video arrives on the back of the release of a documentary about the three members of Pussy Riot - Nadezhda 'Nadia' Tolokonnikova, Maria 'Masha' Alyokhina, and Yekaterina 'Katerina' Samutsevich - who were sentences to three years in Russian penal colonies for 'Hooliganism' (Samutsevich was released after a successful appeal while the other two continue to serve their sentences). The film, called Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer is screening at the New Zealand International Film Festival, and you can check out session times over here.
