Listen To Kurt Vile's Mix Tape
After yesterday's excellent news that Kurt Vile will play Auckland's 2014 Laneway Festival, the American crooner has released an hour-long mix tape of songs that inspired his critically acclaimed 2013 album Wakin on a Pretty Daze, and announced he will release both a new EP, It's a Big World Out There (And I'm Scared), and a deluxe edition of the aforementioned long-player (Wakin on a Pretty Daze: Deluxe Daze (Post Haze)) this November via Matador - good timing or what! Vile has included many of the artists one would have expected to influence his work on the mix tape - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Tim Buckley, The Byrds - but there are a few surprises too - Gary Numan's 'Are Friends Electric?', for instance. Listen to the whole, charming thing below Kurt Vile nerds!
