Lorde Wins 2013 APRA Silver Scroll Award

Lorde and co-writer Joel Little won the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll award for their international hit single 'Royals', and were presented it at a ceremony at Auckland's Vector Arena last night.

'Royals' debuted at No. 1 in New Zealand, reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Single Charts (a position it still holds) and Lorde's debut album Pure Heroine released a few weeks back sits at No. 3 on the US Billboard Album Charts.

Other winners from last night included Karlo Magnetic who won the SOUNZ Contemporary Award for 'Lightbox' and Maisey Rika, Te Kahauta Maxwell and Mahuia Bridgeman-Cooper, who won the APRA Maioha Award for 'Ruiamoko'. Dave Dobbyn was inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame via three tribute covers, performed by Shihad, Mark Vanilau and Scribe, and Tami Nielson.

The Silver Scroll is voted on by 10, 000 New Zealand songwriters who are members of the Australasian Performing Rights Association.
