Undertheradar Is Seeking an Editor!

A new year = a great new opportunity for an experienced writer and music fan.  Due to the departure of our amazing staff writer and general UTR devotee for the past 3+ years, Courtney Sanders, who is off to helm Sydney based fashion/culture mag Catalogue, we have done some restructuring and are looking to appoint our first ever (official) Editor.

We're after a serious music fan with proven writing ability that loves going to live shows to manage all our editorial content, including: daily news (Mon - Fri), interviews, reviews, live photos, live video and features (new development). The role is Auckland based, Arch Hill/Grey Lynn to be precise, and is full-time in dedication but not necessarily hours with some fixed/non-negotiable office hours required weekday mornings (approx. 8.30am-12pm) and then as is required to get the job done (some occasional weekend/evening work will be inevitable with interviews and shows etc). Advertising sales will also form part of the role but to what extent will based on the person.

Along with a good knowledge/appreciation of various alternative music genres/communities and live music + writing ability/experience, some of the following knowledge/skills/experience would be advantageous...

- Photoshop/InDesign
- Video production
- Photography
- Sales/advertising
- Design
- Marketing
- Web development

$$$ will depend on the person but will be comprised of a retainer + advertising commission.

Generally, the person we're looking for needs to be social but also able to work in a very small team and often alone.  This could suit a freelance writer or journalist with other interests, commercial or otherwise, but due to the fixed morning hours it may not be right for musicians who will need to tour or play a lot of week night shows.

The role is available from end of January and ideally we are looking for a commitment of at least 12 months
