Listen: Jay Reatard's Cover Of Nirvana's 'Frances Farmer...'

Shortly before his death in 2010 Jay Reatard recorded a cover of Nirvana track 'Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle' from the group's last studio album In Utero. Since then it has floated around un-mastered, but has finally been polished up for official release on the much-anticipated and much-delayed Nirvana covers album In Utero: In Tribute: In Entirety.

The release is timed to come out on Record Store Day on April 19 and is the 100th offering from alternative label Robotic Empire. The tribute album is comprised of covers from a bunch of well-known groups including Thursday, Circa Survive, Young Widows and Mean Jeans, who together cover all 12 songs from In Utero.

Jay's excellent version of 'Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle' is a hyped up and psyched out take on the classic track. The late Memphis musician played all the instruments for the recording and definitely injected some grittiness in to the song. Have a listen below...
