Prong Announce New Zealand Show In November

Long-standing thrash metal group Prong have announced they are heading to New Zealand for one show in November. The trio was formed in New York in 1986 by guitarist and vocalist Tommy Victor, along with CBGB staff members Mike Kirkland Ted Parsons. The decades have seen the band pass through a break-up and evolve to see the current line up that has Victor joined by Jason Christopher and Art Cruz. Here are the details of their upcoming show...

PRONG, the US metal trio responsible for one of the Top 100 Metal Riffs ever (!), with Snap Your Fingers Snap Your Fingers Snap Your Neck, will perform in New Zealand for the first time, this coming November at the Powerstation in Auckland.

The history of PRONG has cast a long shadow. Founded by singer/guitarist Tommy Victor in 1986 – bands like Nine Inch Nails, Korn, and Slipknot openly acknowledge their influence. New album ‘Ruining Lives’ is the follow-up to the acclaimed 2012 release ‘Carved Into Stone’ and continues to show the band on an upward trajectory, proving that despite having a long, illustrious career, PRONG can still make records that matter and re-invent themselves without negating their roots.

Formed by guitarist and vocalist Tommy Victor, soundman at the legendary club CBGB’s along with the club’s doorman Mike Kirkland and ex-Swans drummer Ted Parsons PRONG signed to Epic Records in 1989. Over the course of their next three major label releases: Prove You Wrong (1991), Cleansing (1994), and Rude Awakening (1996), PRONG chartered an innovative course. Their best selling work; ‘Cleansing’ cemented PRONG’s position as a mainstream metal mainstay. The album’s single “Snap Your Fingers Snap Your Neck” has been up there in the top 100 riffs ever in Kerrang! And was regularly featured on MTV’s legendary ‘Headbangers Ball’ show. Tours with White Zombie, Sepultura, Fear Factory and Pantera followed.
