Listen: Deafheaven - From the Kettle Onto the Coil
Fans of American black metal act Deafheaven will be happy to hear that the group have released an intense new single. Titled 'From The Kettle Onto The Coil', the track is part of the Adult Swim singles programme (which has so far released singles from Sleep, Destruction Unit, Giorgio Moroder, et al), and follows on from the group's critically acclaimed 2013 album Sunbather.
Though frontman George Clarke still pushes his vocal chords through ranges of screaming and growling, his lyrics are somewhat more articulate than in previous offerings, but in case you still can't catch them here's a sample: "To the squinting spectator who drank in the despair as I tiptoed off the plane of existence and drifted listlessly through the velvet blackness of oblivion. I am what I always was. Gleaming and empty". Revel in the darkness below...
