Tami Neilson Awarded 2014 APRA Silver Scroll

Friday 31st October, 2014 9:03AM

Country singer Tami Neilson and her brother Joshua Neilson were presented with the 2014 APRA Silver Scroll Award last night at a ceremony in Wellington for their song 'Walk (Back To Your Arms)'. The song was chosen as the winner by APRA members, which consists of more than 10,000 songwriters and composers. The annual event recognises outstanding achievement in the craft of songwriting.

The Neilsons' songwriting effort was up against finalists Louis Baker, The Phoenix Foundation, Broods and Tiny Ruins. As is tradition, the finalist's songs were covered by other artists for the ceremony, with 'Walk' undergoing a reimagining as a world-pop song by a 16-piece Indonesian Gamelan bell orchestra, with vocals courtesy of The All Seeing Hands' throat-singer Jonny Marks. The must-see performance will be available from the APRA AMCOS YouTube channel over the next few weeks.

APRA's Anthony Healey said 'Walk" is a honest and beautifully formed song that deserved to win.
