Love Thy Neighbour: Orlando Furious
Elusive Melbourne musician Orlando Furious is not only difficult to gather information on, but his sound also defies definition. The Footscray-resident (whose real name is Benjamin Snaath, his musicial alias apparently adapted from the epic Italian poem Orlando Furioso) released five-track EPs High and Mighty and Popular earlier this year on cassette through Australian label Cinnamon Records. But these bubbling efforts from "The Kronik Explorer" barely scratch the surface of his prolific output. While he is tagged as a punk-experimental-garage-indie-noise artist, Furious' sound is something better heard than described. So here's a small selection of tracks we reckon are worth checking out...
Released just yesterday, 'Murdoch' is from a cassingle especially concocted for Furious's impending visit to these shores...
Here's the video for 'Nu Body' taken from his EP Popular released in January...
And from the latest EP High And Mighty (out June) is 'Fresh'...
Orlando Furious will be performing with Girls Pissing On Girls Pissing and Civil Union on Friday 7th November at the Audio Foundation, see over here for details. Rumour has it he also has some other New Zealand dates up his sleeve so stay tuned for more information.
