Video: Shunkan - Our Names

Friday 10th April, 2015 10:31AM

Earlier this month Invercargill group Shunkan shared the new single 'Our Names', and the five-piece have now returned with a video for the grungy cut. Directed by Connor Strati for Candlelit Pictures, the clip follows frontwoman Marina Sakimoto as she heads on a "dark and disorientating journey into the gathering of a mysterious cult". Strati says the inspiration for the clip came from the song's lyrics that talk about being in an altered state of mind and feeling alienated and lost.

"We took these ideas into the realm of fantasy and thrust the main character into a world that is somewhat chaotic and disturbing," he explains. "With the hallucinatory style of the piece, the lines between reality and imagination become blurred, as she travels deeper into the heart of a mysterious cult." The track is lifted from the band's upcoming EP The Pink Noise, which is due out any day now via Art Is Hard records. While you wait for that, watch this...
