Weekly Round Up: Friday 29th May

This week in tour news the final international headliners for Soulfest 2015 were announced, seeing Lauryn Hill, Miguel, Jazmine Sullivan and Black Star added to a line up that already boasts the incredible talent of Mary J Blige, Jill Scott, De La Soul and Kamasi Washington. Also in festival news, Palmerston North all ages venue Great Job! announced a two-day rage that will see acts from all over the country come together in the Mighty Manawatu, those already on the bill include New Gum Sarn, Kane Strang, Disasteradio, Cheats and Soda Boyz. Melbourne one-man music machine Harts is heading this way for two shows in July to support the release of his new EP, Breakthrough. And Emily Edrosa announced a three-show tour of the South Island that will be kicking off next Thursday in Dunedin.

In release news, Auckland sewerpunks Mucus Kids dropped their single 'I Stand With A Fist' online ahead of the release of their debut EP Mosh 4 Jesus which is coming out today and is being celebrated with an all-ages show at UFO. Christchurch multi-instrumentalist Ryan Fisherman (Nakey, Doprah) has released his new solo EP The Nest Egg, which veers away from his band work and enters the alt-country realm. Psychedelic trio Husk shared the first single from their upcoming album The Freaks, which will be released later this year through independent label Dead Orchard. A little further away, New York act Son Lux has expanded from a solo venture to a three-piece and unveiled excellent new single 'You Don't Know Me' form upcoming album Bones. And Grimes revealed to fans via Twitter that her new album will be dropping as a "surprise" around October, because she wants fans to have first access to the tracks ahead of press.
