Tour Information
“That’s the whole beauty of a band - each member doing their own thing for the song, a kind of magical enhancing. Then there is the sheer pleasure of playing it together. It’s satisfying and can even be somewhat rapturous, actually!”

This is one way composer/guitarist/vocalist Jay Clarkson describes presenting a new song to her Dunedin based band The Containers.
Jay will be performing in Wellington for the first time in several years and the band will be showcasing songs from their forthcoming album FALLING THROUGH, to be released through Powertool later this year.

Known for her distinctive vocals and guitar work Clarkson's songs will be powered along by drummer Mike Dooley (Toy Love, Snapper), gorgeous Nord keyboards played by Alan Haig (David Kilgour & the Heavy 8s, The Chills, Snapper), and thunderingly good bass a la Tenzin Mullin (Suka, Heka.)
Songs from Jay's 2015 SPUR album (Zelle Records) will also be performed.

Cookie Brooklyn & The Crumbs will open the evening. A Wellington 3-piece featuring Nell Thomas, Erika Grant, Mark Williams, their respective band histories join the dots between ESG, The Shaggs and The Red Crayola. Cookie Brooklyn & The Crumbs is a meld of skitterish post-punk energy and vocal harmony. Their most recent release is the 7 single 'Is the Logic in Pop?' (Epic Sweep Records 2019). They have recorded an album for release in 2020, a follow to their first full length album 'On Television' (Burning Log 2018).

Thomas and Grant also play in Orchestra of Spheres and Mark Williams is ex-MarineVille.
