The launch of the Dunedin Jazz Club brings together two Divas from across New Zealand for a special concert at Hanover Hall. Trumpet legend and singer Edwina Thorne from Auckland is joined by Dunedin jazz singer Molly McGee, bringing together experience and youthful vitality to present two sets of original music and jazz standards for local audiences.

Bio: Edwina Thorne lived and performed in New York for many years as well as touring Europe & the Carribean. Edwina plays most styles of music and represented N.Z at the 1992 Expo in Spain. A vibrant, versatile entertainer, she has released five albums and for 20years has taught music specializing in ensemble performance and instrumental tuition. Edwina is an excellent trumpeter, well trained in composition and improvisation from Berklee College of Music where she formed Thornebirds who performed at the New York Women’s Jazz Festival and noted in the book “Stormy Weather” about women in Jazz in America where Edwina lived for ten years.
