Richard Francis is a sound artist working with electronics and field recordings. He has released solo and collaborative albums on Senufo Editions, Entr’acte, Glistening Examples, The Tapeworm, Korm Plastics, Banned Production and Aufabwegen. Recent collaborators include Frans De Waard, Ralf Wehowsky, Anla Courtis, Bruce Russell, Mattin, Jason Kahn and Francisco Lopez. KEIR GoGWILT
Keir GoGwilt is a violinist and scholar whose work spans a range of disciplines. As a violinist he has been described as a “formidable performer” (New York Times) noted for his “evocative sound” (London Jazz News) and “finger-busting virtuosity” (San Diego Union Tribune). He is a founding member of the collectively run American Modern Opera Company, who have curated festivals at the American Repertory Theater, Clark Art Museum, and the Ojai Festival (2022). Additionally, he co-composes and improvises music with bassist Kyle Motl as part of their duo, Treesearch; their music has been noted for its “rich tones, rhapsodic gestures” (The New Yorker), and “clinical precision” (The Wire).
As a soloist, Keir has performed with groups including the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Chinese National Symphony, the Orquesta Filarmonica de Santiago, the Bowdoin International Music Festival Orchestra, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the Manhattan School of Music Chamber Sinfonia, the Music Academy of the West chamber orchestra, and the La Jolla Symphony, among others. As a creative collaborator, he enjoys a number of close partnerships in which he works variously as a performer, music director, and improviser. He has ongoing projects with composers Matthew Aucoin, Celeste Oram, and Carolyn Chen, choreographer Bobbi Jene Smith, bassist Mark Dresser (as part of the Dresser Quintet/Septet), taonga puoro musician/scholar Rob Thorne, and percussionist/conductor Steven Schick. Additionally, he has performed and/or recorded with artists including Tan Dun, Nicole Mitchell, Jim Black, Joshua White, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Tobias Picker, Miranda Cuckson, and Robert Levin.
In his capacities as a recitalist, chamber musician, and creative artist, GoGwilt has been featured at festivals/series including Luminato, PS 122 COIL, Rockport Chamber Music, Spoleto (in Italy), Carolina Performing Arts, the American Repertory Theater, La Mama, National Sawdust, Darmstadt, San Diego Symphony’s “Hearing the Future,” LA Opera After Hours, Taos, and YellowBarn, and can be heard on Tzadik, Clean Feed, and 577 Records. He studied Literature at Harvard University (AB) and is currently finishing his PhD in Music at UC San Diego. He has presented lecture-recitals on baroque, galant, and contemporary music at conferences throughout the United States and Europe, and has published work in Naxos Musicology and the Orpheus Institute Series.

SAMUEL HOLLOWAY
Samuel Holloway is an Auckland-based artist. He was the 2013 Mozart Fellow at the University of Otago, and a 2016 Civitella Ranieri Fellow in Umbria, Italy. Samuel was a finalist in the 2011 SOUNZ Contemporary Award for his work Sillage, a work that was selected for the 2014 ISCM World New Music Days in Poland.
Samuel studied music and philosophy at the University of Auckland, and currently manages the contemporary art and design programmes at Unitec Institute of Technology. He is the Associate Director (Artistic) of the 2020 ISCM World New Music Days.
Samuel’s work has been performed by prominent artists and ensembles in Asia, Europe and North America; these performers include Klangforum Wien, the Miyata-Yoshimura-Suzuki Trio and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He has undertaken a number of projects with the collective et al., and their collaborative work is held in the Chartwell Collection at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
Samuel was a committee member of the Composers Association of New Zealand from 2006-2017. He has been a convener and mentor at the Nelson Composers Workshop and was co-convener of the 2014 CANZ Composers Conference at the University of Auckland.

CELESTE ORAM
Celeste Oram is a composer and musician, of British and settler American heritage, who grew up in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Celeste's works are scenarios—encompassing instrumental writing, song & speech, electronics, visual media, theatre, and improvisation—in which performers and listeners explore sonic and social histories, micro-cultures, and utopias. Celeste’s work has been recognised by the 2017 CANZ Trust Fund Award, nominations for the 2020 & 2014 SOUNZ Contemporary Award, and the 2016 Kranichstein Composition Prize from the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music, whose jury described her work as ‘strangely entertaining... engaging with history in a striking manner’ and ‘utterly relevant’.

Celeste’s most recent works have been made with the support and partnership of organizations including the Danish Royal Ballet, La Jolla Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (NZ), Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (UK), and NZTrio – as well as in partnership with valued creative collaborators including Keir GoGwilt (US), Rob Thorne (NZ), and Steven Schick (US).

As a conductor and lifelong choral musician, Celeste has served as assistant director of the San Diego Women's Chorus, director of the UC San Diego Chamber Singers, as well as musical director for several community & student productions of opera and musical theatre. As a writer, Celeste has contributed feature music programmes to Radio New Zealand Concert, and articles to TEMPO (Cambridge University Press) & Naxos Musicology International.

Celeste is a PhD candidate in music composition at the University of California San Diego. She completed a BMusBA at the University of Auckland in 2012.

JOHNNY CHANG
Composer-performer Johnny Chang engages in extended explorations surrounding the relationships of sound/listening and the in-between areas of improvisation, composition and performance.

Johnny has been a part of the Wandelweiser composers collective since 2012 and in 2018, initiated a new framework for the presentation of creative research and performances, Partitions & Resonances, aimed at encouraging new and ongoing collaborations between the varied disciplines of composition, musicology, historical research and performance. He currently collaborates with: Antoine Beuger, Samuel Dunscombe, Catherine Lamb, Klaus Lang, Mike Majkowski, Phill Niblock, Derek Shirley, Germaine Sijstermans, Taku Sugimoto, Eric Wong.
