NANNY ASSIS is a Brazilian from Bahia, a master of bossa nova, forro and a myriad of African Brazilian sounds. He is a New York based vocalist, instrumentalist and songwriter. Nanny has just won best male vocalist for the Brazilian Press Music Awards 2017 and nominated for best show in New York also instrumentalist. He is quite simply a gifted artist, who has recently been awarded the lifetime achievement in Brazilian Jazz. He has toured internationally and performed with Paul Simon, Kenny Baron, VInicius Cantauria, John Patitucci.
Nanny is an outstanding vocalist, drummer/percussionist and a talented songwriter who has touched hearts and souls through his music. Anybody that sees Nanny perform immediately feels his rhythms and notes often snatching audiences away, other times energising them enough to stand up and dance and sweat until you cant sweat no more to use Bob Marley's lyrics.
Nanny has finished his new CD recording with Ron Carter Bass and many other great artists. He is touring in Instanbull then back to NZ.

Her music is described as soft, sultry, vocals with space, her performances have taken her to festivals Tauranga Jazz, Samoa, Monterey, Rome casa del Jazz festival, Venice to London clubs, and New York City, Zinc Jazz - recently at Viitellos Jazz, LA, Port Imperial Jazz Festival NYC.

Maggie Gould has been performing and recording with Claude McKnight Grammy Award winning vocalist from Take 6 with their new material. She has also finished a tour LA Catalinas to New York and recorded with Russell Malone, John Di Martino and Leo Luccini with Nanny on percussion her new CD.
Nanny Assis is recording his new CD in New York and just finished a sell out tour with Maggie Gould in New Zealand, performing regularly at Tara Iti the worlds no 2 Golf Resort.
They are Music Directors of Jazz Festivals their most recent success the Mangawhai Soul Festival 2020.
They have been invited to record and perform in 2022 in Rome jazz festival with their new material.
Pianist and composer KEVIN FIELD has collaborated with some of the top international names in jazz including guitarist Nir Felder, bassist Matt Penman and drummer Obed Calvaire, who all feature on his New York album The A List (Warner Music). He has performed concerts in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand and features on over 30 albums by such artists as Nathan Haines, Whirimako Black, Caitlin Smith and The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Kevin has released several of his own albums including the celebrated Field of Vision, also on the Warner Music label.
Kevin is also a member of the Dr Dog jazz ensemble, winners of best jazz album at the 2015 NZ Music Awards and is a Senior Lecturer in Jazz Studies at the University of Auckland.

ALEX GRIFFITH has been playing professionally since 1985 and has worked with a schedule of artists too numerous to mention. Highlights and formative experiences include; Billy TK snr and Wharemana, who in the mid to late 1980s were at the forefront of modern Maori Waiata, 5 years as full time bassist for NZ blues legend Sonny Day, 5 years with the Rodger Fox Big Band, NZ tours with many American jazz and blues luminaries including Randy Crawford, Bill Cunliffe, Kevin Mahogany and Bob Sheppard. Bassist for US blues singer Ronnie Taylor. Alex has played on many local jazz and blues recordings including Blue Train’s ’No Free Lunch’ and Rodger Fox’s ‘Ain’t That The Truth’ which both won ‘Jazz Album Of The Year’ in 1996 and 2001 respectively. Twenty five years ago Alex helped form NZ’s first ‘salsa’ band with internationally renowned Puerto Rican percussionist Miguel Fuentes and has been involved with Latin and Brazilian music ever since. Recently Alex has been working with New York based award winning Brazilian singer/guitarist/percussionist Nanny Assis as well as Latin Grammy Award winner Mireya Ramos also based in New York.
