Body, Pleasure, Decolonisation
Are you tired of Pride events where whiteness is centered? Are you tired of the pink washing in Pride? Experience an amazing event in Aotearoa’s vibrant capital, Pōneke, crafted by and for BBIPOC and dissident communities. In Part 1, engage in a dynamic conversation led by Belen Cupeiro and Ana Jurado, Latincuirs organizers from Argentina and Mexico. Delve into the workshop exploring the profound impact of colonization on our BBIPOC bodies, unraveling its effects on pleasure, envisioning collective pleasure spaces, and navigating pleasure activism in Latin America. Following a brief intermission, immerse yourself in the documentary Mi sexualidad es una creación artística (My sexuality is an artistic creation) by Lucía Esaña.
As the night sets in, we transition into Part 2, a captivating drag show and party segment. Starting the night with phenomenal performers like Frida People and winner of anti pageant 2023 Myrtle Montgomery, revered legends in the Pōneke drag scene. Dance to the beats of DJ DeezNaks and anticipate an exciting DJ set from a Latin American artist yet to be unveiled. Wear something that feels good on your body and helps you feel truly yourself. You can come to both parts of the event or just one, it is up to you! Embracing accessibility, ticket pricing follows a tier system, ensuring inclusivity for the BBIPOC community. Get ready for a night that celebrates identity, pleasure and says fuck you to “traditional” white centered pride.
Face masks are not mandatory, but if on the week of the event you have cold like symptoms please stay home.
