TAHUNA BREAKS ARE BACK: AOTEAROA’S FUNK FAVOURITES RETURN TO THE STAGE THIS NOVEMBER
The grooves. The energy. The Funk - After nearly a decade off the circuit, Tahuna Breaks are reuniting for a limited run of shows in November 2025. Known for their high-energy performances and genre-fusing sound — from funk to soul to roots and electro — Tahuna Breaks are a guaranteed crowd-mover.
Over the course of three studio albums — Reflections, Black, Brown & White, and Shadow Light — plus a blistering live release, Live 10, Tahuna Breaks carved out a reputation as a band that didn’t just play music — they brought the party. From festival stages to sweaty club floors, their shows became legendary for their dynamism, musicianship, and connection with audiences.
Tahuna Breaks became a household name on the New Zealand live scene throughout the 2000s and 2010s. Their signature blend of tight horn lines, slick grooves, and undeniable stage presence made them a standout on major festival stages including Rhythm & Vines, Homegrown, WOMAD, and Splore, as well as international appearances in Australia and the UK.
“We’ve all missed that connection — with each other and with live audiences,” says guitarist James Jenkin. “So we thought, let’s fire it up again, bring the grooves back, and have some fun.”
The November shows will feature a full live set drawn from all three albums — including fan favourites like Giddy Up, Empower Me, Reflections, Black, Brown, and White and more. Expect big brass, tight rhythms, and the full-force energy that made Tahuna Breaks a staple of the Aotearoa live music scene.
Tour dates and ticket information will be announced soon. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned via the band’s social media channels and website — this is a reunion you won’t want to miss.
