The inkstitution that was Ink bar opened with an invite only party 27th July 2000.

It opened to the public 2nd August 2000..

Inks final night was24th May2025 as it ran up to the end of its lease
Thats 2months short of 25 yrs.

The last 3months saw a series of extraordinary parties as many of Inks promoters and djs and of course the many patrons gathered for one last hurrah.

So given a little passing of time combined with actual date being the25th anniversary of opening Ink we thought it appropriate to gather together as many of the promoters who were the lifeblood of Ink to celebrate 298 months of good times at The Mothership .

Andy the owner of Ink is also one of the 2 partners involved in The Mothership .
For those who are not aware of The Mothership it’s been open 3years.

It occupies the space where Impala and Code used to be on Shortland St .
The Mothership is a very solid attempt for Pat n Andy to build their dream music venue.

The same ethos that helped define Ink “It’s all about the music” rules here as well.

A pounding pristine Soundsystem ,Air Con everywhere . Very cool spaces which are defining.

The limitations of Ink ie its size are not a factor at the mothership.

Our in house lighting is international standard and the venue emboldened by Chris Stapps irreverent art is one where people want to enjoy themselves lose themselves in the music while enjoying the presence and company of like minded individuals.

The key difference between Ink and The Mothership is that The Mothership does all genres and types of music ,where bands ,DJs or live electronics.

The culture and community built up around Ink developed over the25 yrs of its existence and we hope that his carries over to the Mothership which is already established as Auckland’s premier house and techno venue having already hosted a Fukton of quality international and local gigs in its 3 yrs.
So the celebration is over Friday 1st and Sat 2 August .

Friday will be hosted by the esteemed Tek on Toast crew with support from Tina Mairi and VNCE/b2b Morri.

Saturday will feature the fella behind the already legendary Dose parties Andrew Harley going b2b Matt Drake and guests Greg Churchill and Communicate ((Cyril Orson/Hey Lady .

So hoping to see a few of you over the weekend.
