Ben Chavasse 'Boxing' Album Release Show With Benjamin Mack

To celebrate the release of his debut album 'Boxing', Ben Chavasse will play The Button Factory on September 27th.

Playing tracks off the album which comes out two days prior, with support from local artist Benjamin Mack, and featuring a seven-piece band, this show will commemorate the release with specially arranged versions of the songs.

Chavasse’s debut album ‘Boxing’ comes out September 25th. With the earliest song written at age 17, the remainder of the writing has spanned his early adulthood and years at university. Collaborating with Michael Howell (SKILAA), tracking for the album began in late 2023 at Jon Pearce’s (The Beths) K Road studio and finished in mid-2025. The 10-track album is an intimate trove of Chavasse’s coming-of-age experiences from high school in Tauranga to his early 20s in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Encompassing his lyric-forward approach with themes of adolescence, mental health, and reconciliation, the album spans genres from indie rock and folk, to punk and jazz.

Benjamin Mack is an Auckland-based multi-instrumentalist and producer with an inventive approach to music-making. Guided by a DIY ethos, he creates unique sounds through handcrafted instruments and meticulous studio work. His music blends emotional depth with sonic innovation.
