Love Square Live At Leigh Sawmill
....after a summer spent mountaineering and a winter of relentless practice this trio is finally back stalking Leigh and the general Cape Rodney area carrying armfuls of horns and tambourines! Band leader and howling sax man Nick Atkinson is fresh from learning all of the glorious sax solos from the Pink Floyd cannon as part of the Come Toegther band, not to mention a 17 date tour with Supergroove earlier in the year. While they maybe distracting endeavours what he really craves is an attentive and typically open minded Leigh Sawmill audience, a crowd that changes the sound of the band, a room full of sea-side personalities who will bend this supple ensemble to their will. You could be in that exclusive ground for a mere $29 investment!
Before introducing the rest of these fine players please note that the doors for the musical event will open at 4pm and the band will play two sets beginning at 4.30pm. Those familiar with the work of Love Square know these boys are right on time. Please also note that kids are most welcome and those 12 and under are free with an adult guardian!
Finn Scholes has recently added harmonica to the long list of instruments he's mastered. How will he shoehorn this tiny instrument into these Love Square sets? Scholes' lips will be distened from three consecutive nights playing tuba for the Exploding Rainbow Orchestra, but his list of credits and musical accomplishments would fill an extensive scroll and it would be far to laborious to consolidate it here. Scholes pursuit of the hottest possible trumpet lick continues and you may indeed hear this elusive phrase on Sunday, November 9th at the Mill. Don't sleep!
Alistair Deverick is the not-so-secret weapon of the band. Finn's Carnivorous Plant Society partner in crime is unleashed for a world-girlding jazz journey while drumming for Love Square. Despite a tumble during the trios expedition to climb Mt O'Leary in the Southern Alps somewhere between Fiordland and Mt Aspiring, Al has quite literally bounced back and since you've last seen us he's learnt the extensive and challenging technique of John Bonham for the esteemed Come Together band and it shows. The man is a Tsunami of rhythm. He's also packing a trombone.
If this weren't enough Love Square will have their new album available. Live at the Oven Vol.II will be in-stock. Please do join us for our party!
