WAITANGI twilight THURSDAY at Hygge Cafe, Clifton Bay.
Kick off the long weekend with us on Thursday 5th February from 5.30pm in the beautiful Te Awanga. Join us for a casual hang with vibes aplenty and some seriously good music.
The Summer Hummer with YES YESNO, The 5 O'Clock Shadows and Campbell Burns.
Campbell Burns
Is there anything he can't do? Multi instrumentalist Cam Burns is stretched out like piece of chewing gum between collaborations with Bitta Batta, Deep Fried Funk, Bannerman, The Academy and more, while maintaining his incredibly agile and popular solo slots around the globe. Looping between neo -funk, soul, roots, indie, rock, pop and just about everything inbetween. Even he doesnt know what he's gonna play next, but the man is pure class, and has the catalogue to match.
The 5'OClock Shadows
Dropping in with some big wave Surf Rock. The true sound of summer is dripping in reverb, the twang of guitars, a searing whammy bar and the magic fingers of professor Matches Neilson and his tasty trio. Surf guitar instrumentals made from one part Shadows, one part Dick Dale, a sprinkling of the Ventures, with just a dash of Britney Spears and a little too much beer. Perfect.
YES YES NO
Fresh from their set with Amercian rockers Wheatus, local rapskallions YES YES NO are back bringing their sparkling set of original songs and covers from the best of british indie -rock. A band of equal parts chaos, charm, and absolute tune-making magic. Think lo-fi grit, 70s punk attitude, New Wave quirk, and enough guitars to make your landlord nervous.
With 3 great acts, delicious drinks, tasty food, good people and good times, what more could you want? Bring your friends, your kids, your neighbour, your mum. Come join us. Go on, you deserve it!
