Yellow Rooms Fundraiser Show
Yellow Rooms is the project of multi-instrumentalist sisters Sarah and Grace Lawrence. They perform their nostalgic, funny folk songs in harmony, switching between keys, violin and guitar. Nothing is sacred in Yellow Rooms songs, which are informed by the streets of Pōneke - from superettes to graveyards, the boat-sheds to Cuba Street. Recently, they were offered the opportunity to record and make a music video for their song Newtown. This gig is a fundraiser to pay their film crew and studio costs.
They will be accompanied by Emily Ardern, who returns to music from filmmaking to perform her bedroom pop. FLORENCE will play a solo set of poetic folk-jazz accompanied by herself on the piano. Then, The Side Characters will pick up the pace with their stunning jazz-fusion, and finally, DJ Mother Weasel will get you dancing and crying with potentially the only DJ set in recorded history to involve a trumpet.
Doors open at 7pm and music will start at 8.
