The Undercurrent presents the Rory Stuart Trio!

New York-based jazz guitarist and composer Rory Stuart is joined by two stalwarts of the Wellington jazz scene: Mark Lockett on drums and Elijah Mulheron on bass.

Rory Stuart is described by Jazz Times as “Perhaps THE most innovative straight-ahead jazz guitarist to emerge in years” and listed by Scott Yanow as one of the greatest living jazz guitarists. He has led critically acclaimed groups and his recordings have received 4 star reviews (Downbeat) and been listed in “10 Best of the Year” (Coda). He has also performed as a co-leader or sideperson with a truly diverse group of jazz masters, from Brother Jack McDuff and Bill Doggett to George Garzone, Billy Harper, Larry Coryell, and his former students Robert Glasper and Becca Stevens, to Steve Coleman’s early MBASE group with Geri Allen and Cassandra Wilson.
