HBC Unplugged

In an old shaky Bowling Club nestled into the valley here in Hataitai Pōneke, we welcome anyone and everyone to gather for a cosy evening of music. From conversations around spaces where artists can feel nurtured and confident to explore, share and grow - we are excited to present the first of a series of unplugged sessions, allowing people to experience song in one of its most tender settings. A chance to gather community and culture together, in the spirit of that which is beautiful.

For our first evening, Thursday 7th of May we are excited to have both Romi Wrights and LILA JNR performing in the space.

Romi Wrights is a singer songwriter of Tokelau, Samoan, and African American descent, from Porirua, her hometown, and raised in the Hutt Valley. Influenced by US R&B and hip hop, her sound is rooted in late 60s soul and funk, telling stories of love, loss, and everything in between.

A jack of all trades and a master of none. LILA JNR lives in the worlds of Opera, RnB and Theatre. He produces works for arts festivals and touring, is a part of the team giving you the National Youth Opera Aotearoa and The Woven Collective. LILA JNR is an icon on the BV’s and reckons he’s got music coming out but he’s been saying that for a minute…
